Old Highway 10 approved as scenic byway.

Dickinson, N.D. (AP) The state Parks and Recreation Department has designated Highway 10 between Mandan and Dickinson as a scenic byway.

The 100-mile route, which follows the historic Old Red Trail, brings to 10 the number of scenic byways in North Dakota.

A committee that pushed for the designation says the route was first used in the 1800s by settlers, soldiers and Pony Express riders. At that time, it was known as the Fort Keogh Trail.
